Patios and driveways

Xeriscapes

We live in a desert climate that is not suited to thirsty lawns. A xeriscape trades mowing and watering for drought tolerant plants, flagstone, pavers, rock and soil pep, with plants chosen to bring in butterflies, bees and hummingbirds. As of 2025 we’ve removed 250,000 pounds of lawn.

We love building garden beds to help you grow your own delicious and healthy food: redwood beds finished with food grade linseed oil, fenced front gardens, and a mini vegetable garden in the alley.

We have enjoyed growing our own healthy vegetables and herbs, and raising our son in a space where he can step outside and snack on tomatoes, peas, kale and raspberries.

A family business

Brian Miesch has been building outdoor spaces for himself, his family and friends for 30 years. When he moved to Pocatello in 2011, he bought a house with a yard full of dirt, weeds and thorny plants, and it became a test yard and garden for new ideas and materials. He completed the Idaho Master Gardener course, and started doing projects for friends and neighbors until he made it official.

His wife Jen studied botany in college and loves selecting native and pollinator-attracting plants that bring color and interest through the seasons. Their son has grown from pushing a toy skid steer in the garden to operating a real one when they remove lawns.
